STARLAB Limited Warranty
Updated onArticleSTARLAB® warrants that the Digital STARLAB® Dome will be free from defects of workmanship and materials for a period of three (3) years from the original purchase invoice date from STARLAB® (Warranty Period). During the Warranty Period, should a defect from workmanship or materials arise which results from a breach of warranty, STARLAB® will, at its sole discretion, repair or replace the product free of charge other than shipping charges (and any duty/tax charges incurred by a customer located outside the United States). In no event will STARLAB®’s liability exceed the product purchase price. STARLAB® does not warrant components manufactured and branded by other manufacturers (e.g., Optoma® projector, Navitar fisheye lens). However, during the STARLAB® Warranty Period, STARLAB® will expedite warranty repairs through the original manufacturer for components purchased but not manufactured by STARLAB®. Should service be necessary during the warranty period, please contact STARLAB®. All items need to be returned to STARLAB® so that they can be sent out for service.

The System Will Not Turn On
Updated onArticleCheck that all power cords are firmly plugged in and that power has not been lost (e.g., power strip). Press the startup buttons on the projector and the computer. The projector will display a screen with words on the dome ceiling and the light to the lens will be on if the projector is on. It takes about two minutes for the bulb to warm up. If the computer has been completely powered down, it will take about one minute to boot up.

The Power Is On But Projector Will Not Display Image
Updated onArticleMake sure that the cable is securely connected between HDMI 1 on the projector and the HDMI port on the laptop. The HDMI cable may be defective. Make sure that the cable is not bent. Try a new HDMI cable. It is possible that the projector is not using the correct source. Use the remote to remedy this issue. Press “source” then “HDMI 1” (button #3 on the remote). You may need to press this button a few times until you see the computer flash. This means that the laptop is connected to the projector and an image will appear in the dome. On a mac computer, both the Starry Night™ Small Dome icon and the projector icon need to be open. If you still have no image, it may be necessary to reboot the projector. Turn the projector off. Wait a minute or two before turning it back on. Reboot the laptop. If you have tried the steps above to no avail, the HDMI port may be defective. Obtain a VGA cable and attach it to the projector and laptop. Press the “auto image” or “source” button on the remote to tell the projector to try other ports. While the Starry Night™ Small Dome software is open on the computer’s desktop, click the “live” button in the upper left hand corner of the window. This will allow Starry Night™ Small Dome to “talk” to the projector. The computer has been programmed to detect the projector automatically. If you see the computer screen flash blue, the computer has found the projector. If you see the screen flash blue but still have no image, reboot the projector. Turn it off then on again.

Updated onArticleSTARLAB® Digital Domes are very durable, and they are made from a robust, light-proof fabric which has been specially reinforced at key places in the structure to provide integrity and maximize the lifespan of the dome. Most domes that are properly maintained are still in good condition after five or more years of operation. Avoid pulling the dome near the seams or by the inflation tube. Do not drag the dome over dirty surfaces. Normal wear and tear can facilitate the need for additional patching and repairs during the lifetime of the dome. As with any fabric, great care should be taken when unpacking and packing up the dome to ensure that the material does not tear or become dirty.

General Safety Guide
Updated onArticleAvoid storing the dome in an environment that is either below freezing or damp, as mildew may grow on the material. Extreme heat, cold, wind or rain may cause damage to the dome fabric. Direct sun can cause a dome to heat up to over 40 degrees Celsius (i.e., 104 degrees Fahrenheit). This extreme heat may cause the glue holding the dome seams together to fail. Water can loosen the glue holding the cloth strips over the dome seams.

Updated onArticlePull the strap tight before connecting to ensure a secure fit. You may wish to use a bungee cord for added stability to make sure that the tube is securely attached to the blower. Make sure the tube is not twisted or kinked. When attaching the tube, make sure the seam is at the bottom center of the output tube.

Seating Suggestions
Updated onArticlePeople who are seated in the dome should sit in either a semi-circle or full circle arrangement around the inside with their backs close to (but not leaning against) the dome wall. This arrangement will keep the center of the dome open to allow for air flow around the projector and any computer equipment and accessories. The instructor will be seated in the center with the equipment. This seating arrangement will maximize people’s viewing angle in the dome to take advantage of the 360-degree projection experience.
